A Typical Semester
|
During the initial orientation students have get to know the faculty and staff, and receive information regarding the semester course of study. The semester then proceeds with a three-week intensive Italian course. During this time, the students will also visit community service sites, and will have a chance to really get to know their host families.
Academic courses begin in the fourth week of the program, when the daily schedule of Italian instruction is reduced to allow time for classroom learning and individual study in the various academic subjects. Throughout the semester, students are expected to spend a few hours each week in their service learning/community service projects, such as health care, education, or immigrant and refugee assistance.
